Networking of actors for the interdisciplinary development of complex networked socio-technical systems for the value creation of tomorrow (Advanced Systems Engineering)

8 Members

Digitization will have a decisive impact on the socio-technical systems of tomorrow: On the one hand, the complexity of technical systems is increasing; on the other hand, the associated production systems and the future organization of work are also changing. Mastering complexity requires a cross-disciplinary approach. A system-oriented and model-based development system is required that encompasses all areas of strategic product planning and production system development, including the associated design of work, the associated services and consideration of the entire value creation system. Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE) offers new solution approaches for this. There is a great need for research in this area with regard to engineering in the environment of digitization and artificial intelligence (AI) and the continuous mapping of the product and service life cycle. In addition, the internal and cross-company organization must be researched and cross-disciplinary development methods for the interaction of the players involved must be created. Overarching measures are essential to ensure that the project results have the necessary impact to give Germany as an innovation location a decisive edge over its international competitors. In this way, industrial solutions obtained can be dovetailed, refined and prioritized with a view to the future. Previous work on development methods has not gone far enough in this respect. For the task of such an accompanying research the scientific project AdWiSE is created.

Description of the problem

The collaborative projects in the announcement will design, develop and prototype demand-oriented ASE solutions in industrial application scenarios. There is a great need for research in this area with regard to engineering in the environment of digitization and artificial intelligence (AI) and the end-to-end mapping of the product and service lifecycle. Previous development methodological work does not go far enough here.

Description of the problem

The collaborative projects in the announcement will design and develop demand-oriented ASE solutions and implement them prototypically in industrial application scenarios. There is a great need for research in this area with regard to engineering in the environment of digitization and artificial intelligence (AI) and the end-to-end mapping of the product and service lifecycle. In addition, the internal and cross-company organization must be researched and cross-disciplinary development methods for the interaction of the players involved must be created. Higher-level measures are essential to ensure that the project results have the necessary impact to give Germany as an innovation location a decisive edge over its international competitors. In this way, industrial solutions obtained can be dovetailed, refined and prioritized with a view to the future. Previous development methodological work does not go far enough here.

Project results & added value

After the end of the collaborative projects, the overall results will be scientifically followed up, consolidated and incorporated into university research and teaching in the third step. Through thematic bundling and processing, the collaborative project results will be transferred to broad industrial application with improved support. In addition, important suggestions are given for the professional profiles of the actors. By updating the target image and the strategy, the project also provides essential impulses for decision-makers from industry, politics and society.
